About the Author

Raymonde is a writer-cartoonist from New York City. Spending her childhood being treated for a series of chronic illnesses, Raymonde spent much of her time reading, studying science and history, and watching Magic School Bus on PBS. Her interest in the natural world gradually turned into a drive to make worlds of her own, a skill she started developing in middle school.

Raymonde went on to attend Oberlin College (class of 2017), where they majored in Anthropology and Creative Writing, with a minor in East Asian Studies. She drafted her first short story cycle and drew several short comic pieces. She is a professional librarian and holds a Master of Library Sciences from Queens College CUNY (graduate class of 2023). Now she primarily writes horror and strange fiction.

Raymonde’s fiction examines massive-scale topics like climate change and governmental collapse through the intimate lives of humble characters. She especially enjoys stories in the “grimdamp” style, developed out of the rising sea levels and increasing heat of our planet.

For Raymonde, storytelling is less like planning a blueprint and more like working with clay; it has to be felt and molded so that its natural shape can be brought forth.
